I Can't Type Worth A Damn I should sue my law school.

My own experience is that typing can be a great way to organize your notes during class room discussion (if you are handy with the computer). However, at my law school a fair amount of people choose to write in blue books for the actual exam (and it seems like they do all right).

Now if this guy's handwriting is just terrible... yes the professor might mark him down. In that way he is penalized for not typing his exam. But come now... on the day of the exam he became a poor typist? You would think that this guy could get a "Typing For Dummies" computer program or something.

Horse Meat

Would you like to serve Mr. Ed steaks to your family tonight? Perhaps a nice tasty horse meatloaf with with green beans?

Most Americans would find such ideas disgusting. But does that mean we should ban the shipment of horse meat to overseas customers as well?

An interesting article on the topic can be found here.

The GOP Is Reagan's Party

...not Jimmy Carter's!

So why is President Bush sounding like Mr. Carter on energy issues?

This post expresses some concern.

A Hot New Blog On The Middle East

The sucker is scorching hot. My computer caught on fire when I bookmarked the blog.

Everyone take a minute and bookmark MEMRI's blog which can be located here.

As Westerners we have to get a firm grasp of what is going on in the Middle East... before it is too late.

You Can't Limit Free Speech

...but can you limit nerdiness?

I would think so but the ACLU disagrees in this story concerning a high school student in Rhode Island and his year book picture.

I hope the kid gets pushed into the girls' restroom at his school.

A Very Funny Caption Contest

I try not to link to too many articles I find on I doubt that the mighty Glenn Reynolds needs any help in advertising the articles he finds interesting on the Internet (check out Mr. Reynold's blog stats right here.)

But I couldn't help myself when I came across this great Caption Contest.

First, the number of abortions is down since the early 1990s. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in 1973, the year Roe v. Wade was decided, there were 615,831 abortions which translates to an abortion ratio of 196 abortions per 1,000 live births and an abortion rate of 14 per 1,000 women between the ages of 15 and 44.
The number of abortions peaked in 1990 at 1,429,247, yielding a ratio of 344 abortions per 1,000 live births and a rate of 24 per 1,000 women between the ages of 15 and 44. From that high, the number of abortions reported to the CDC had declined to 854,122 by 2002. (This number is artificially low, however. California, Alaska and New Hampshire stopped reporting their data to the CDC in 1998. In one year, the CDC estimated that women in California had 275,000 abortions, which would boost the U.S. total to more than 1 million.)

The Alan Guttmacher Institute compiles its own data from surveys of abortion providers. The institute's data indicate that there were about 800,000 abortions in 1973 and that the number doubled to around
1.6 million in 1990. Since then the number fell to just under 1.3 million in 2002. This implies that the CDC is missing data for about 450,000 abortions.

Muslims And Catholics

I was not very happy to hear this story. Is there such a thing as a moderate Muslim?

And the meeting happened about a block away from where I live!

March For Life This Monday

Hopefully the girlfriend and I can attend the March For Life this coming Monday.

Here is a great article on Reagan's role in the pro-life movement.

The Burkini!

I think I am going to buy one of these suckers for the girlfriend!

Read about this sexy design here.

Just Because...

Religion And Reason

A very interesting post concerning whether Religion can co-exist with Reason.

Religion and Reason can support each other.

Communion Wine To Be Outlawed For Minors?

This bill seems to go a little overboard.

And I would feel the same way even if I wasn't a Catholic.

Buckeyes Lose National Championship

and Muslims are demanding space to pray in Ohio State's football stadium.

It must be tough being an Ohio State fan now!

The funny thing (or kinda scary) is that the Muslims want to leave the stadium during the game and then come back. They say it is for their prayers.

I wonder what the security of the stadium would think about that idea!

From One Of The Comments To The Post:
"Next: footballs will have to be certified as made from something other than pigskin."

Anti U.S. Fund

Iran and Hugo Chavez have created a fund worth billions to challenge U.S. domination.

Chavez is always angry isn't he? Full of hate.

Hateful Hugo is great at calling attention to himself. He has mastered the strategy of attacking a country that is much bigger and better than his own.

I would be interested in knowing more about the politics of South America. Perhaps we can do a better job to find someone to challenge Hateful Hugo down south.

Romney Flips Again

Flipper tries to convince Bud and Sandy
that he really IS a conservative.

This time on the issue of gun control. I really hope that Republicans are watching this guy's words and actions. Mr. Romney is attempting to play the part of the GOP's savior.... but he is anything but!
They call him Flipper, Flipper, faster than lightning,

No-one you see, is smarter than he,

And we know Flipper, lives in a world full of wonder,

Flying there-under, under the sea!

Everyone loves the king of the sea,

Ever so kind and gentle is he,

Tricks he will do when children appear,

And how they laugh when he's near!

They call him Flipper, Flipper, faster than lightning,

No-one you see, is smarter than he,

And we know Flipper, lives in a world full of wonder,

Flying there-under, under the sea!

Privatizing Our National Parks

I am a big fan of nature. For me nothing beats listening to the rain or the birds chirping in the forest during the early morning.

But you know what? The Federal government should not be involved in "preserving" the environment through national parks.

This article explains why.

American Kids Don't Know American History

" MLK Jr. freed the slaves! Learning is the good!"

I have always said that it is extremely important to teach history and government in our schools. These two subjects will become vital resources of knowledge when the children grow up to be voting citizens in our great Republic.

Sadly I don't think that we are teaching kids much in public schools.

This article from the Washington Post confirms my fears.

Shari'a Law

From Little Green Footballs:

"Nazanin Fatehi, the teenage Iranian girl on trial for her life (for the crime of defending herself and a niece from gang rape), has been acquitted of the murder charge—but the Islamic court ruled that she must now pay “blood money” to the family of the would-be rapist."

You would think that more feminists in the West would be up in arms about such a situation. Sadly many just turn their heads away and mumble something about the "importance of understanding other cultures."

AShiningCity's Plan For Iraq

"I give this plan a 'thumbs up' for quality."
President Bush has recently been very angry. People don't like his Iraqi plan.

The president responds, "If you don't like my Iraqi plan, tell me yours!"

Okay Mr. President... because you asked.... here we go.

Divide Iraq into 3 states. The two groups of Islam and the Kurds. The only reason why Iraq was combined from 3 separate groups was from the force of the British empire and the evil of Saddam. If we are not willing to use severe violence to put down rebellion then a one state government will not work.

Next our primary goal will be to guard the border between the Sunni State and the border with Iran. These two states will like each other but such an alliance can't take place.

The same goes with the Kurds. Turkey must understand that we do not support their Kurds forming an alliance with Iraqi Kurds. Yes, it is difficult but at least the Kurds in Iraq have a sense of purpose.

The oil must be divided in 3 ways.

Okay, that is my plan. Yes, there is still a need for the United States but now we are protecting borders of the 3 states... not fighting a civil war. My plan should be a lot easier for the American military to undertake.

The Greatness Of The South

Over the Christmas season a friend of mine remarked, "I like Southern culture... except for all the racism."

Needless to say I was a little angry. The remark came from a pretty liberal man and I guess he felt great feeling superior over an entire part of the country.

Liberals ignore the southern states at their own risk!

A New French Leader?

Many of you out there are thinking: "AShiningCity, why the hell do you care about French politics? France is terrible! You know America rules!"

I care because the French (along with the rest of Europe) are being challenged by Radical Islam for control of their culture and country. The West is in trouble... and Europe is the front line.

I hope the French pick a strong leader to fight back. But I don't know if this man is the guy.

UPDATE (The French, Radical Islam, and Doomsday?):
You gotta figure that the growth of Radical Islam has moved the Doomsday Clock forward by two minutes.

UPDATE 2 (More French News):
Now I find on Drudge that back in the 1950s the British and the French were thinking about mergining nations!

Radical Islam And MLK

We are in the middle of a long weekend thanks to the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on Monday.

The MLK Jr. holiday is meant to be a time to remember that diversity in America can be a strength not a weakness.

Sadly, MLK Jr.'s memory is just something else the Radical Islam has seized. Here too is a good example of Radical Islam on the march using MLK Jr.

A Great Joke

I read this joke today:

There is a ten dollar bill on the ground.
To the North of the bill there is Santa Claus.
To the West of the bill there is the Easter Bunny.
To the South of the bill there is a Moderate Muslim.
To the East of the bill there is a Radical Muslim.

Who gets to the ten dollar bill first??

Answer: The Radical Muslim. All the other creatures are fantasy.

Radical Muslims In Thailand

My girlfriend loves the country of Thailand. She says it is a gorgeous country.

But even in Thailand there are Radical Muslims.

Radical Muslims hate Christians.
Radical Muslims hate Jews.
Radical Muslims hate Hindus.
Radical Muslims hate Buddhists.
Radical Muslims hate Moderate Muslims.

Radical Islam is at war everywhere in the planet... with everyone.

Some Funny Cartoons

Enjoy these suckers!

The Real Romney?

It seems like a lot of people are getting behind Mr. Romney for President. I, for one, am not.

Here is the video explaining why:

But then again some are really impressed with the man.

Abolish Greenwich Mean Time and Replace It with Mecca Time?

Hopefully you folks can see the great arrogance of the Radical Muslim world in this video transcript.

Remember: Radical Muslims believe that they are superior and should rule over every group in the world. They will even make up science in an attempt to prove this point.

"I'm Just A Governor"

said Mr. Romney when asked if he supports troop increases in Iraq.

With that type of leadership the man can expect to stay JUST a governor.

Hmm...perhaps the man has made a decision.

Supreme Court Clerks

....the TV show? Looks like Fox is all set to produce a fictional show that follows the life of Supreme Court clerks.

Totally groovy.

Excellent Wall Street Journal Articles

I love the Wall Street Journal! Some great stuff there. I thought these articles were interesting:

"Why They Fight" (This is a GREAT description of our enemy in this war on Radical Islam).

"What GE Brought To His Life" (An article on Ronald Reagan's relationship with General Electric).

Some Illegal Immigrants Arrested 6 Times

Yes, there is no connection with Illegals and crime.

Oh wait a minute... perhaps there is...hmm. At least the article doesn't describe any assaults on National Guard posts.

We are getting better.

Radical Muslims Invade Europe's Churches

Check out the disgusting story here.

So let me get this straight...Christians in Europe are kind to Muslims by opening up their churches to protect them. Then the Muslims come in and wreck the churches claiming the buildings as their own.

Christians in Europe seem to be a lot more friendly than the Muslims in the Middle East.

I am starting to think that if you give these people an inch they will take a mile!

The Way To Beat Your Wife (And Other Fun Parts Of Radical Islam)

Yes, the Radical Islamic way.

Ah yes, I also found this funny article on how Radical Muslims don't like Santa Claus coming to their lands. WAAA!!! WAAA!!!

Dumbass Radicals.

More fun Radical Muslim happenings:
  • Businessmen (in their 70s) marry each other's daughters (in their teens).
  • Having problems with a neighbor? End that freud by handing over your 16 year daughter! Problem solved!

According to Ol' Broad's post... nope!

President Bush A Conservative?

According to this wackjob President Bush is a true conservative.

Absolutely amazing! Check out the comments to the article for how real conservatives feel.

I am thinking that there should be a 3rd party come 2008. If the Republicans choose McCain there will be... I promise.

The Minimum Wage Debate

Now that the Democrats are in control of Congress many suspect that they will push for a minimum wage increase.

There are those who support such a move.

And those against it.

As you, my gentle reader, might have guessed I am against the minimum wage. I destroy the concept of a minimum wage in this post.

And as you might have predicted, my dear educated reader, President Bush disagrees with me.

National Guardsmen Attacked On Border

Our lack of border security is just pathetic. Now we are suffering attacks from Mexico as this article details.

A buddy of mine commented: "I just hope that the National Guardsman didn’t do anything to violate the constitutional rights of the attackers." (Which brings up an interesting point, perhaps the ACLU might get involved concerning this issue in the future? Hey, the idea isn't that crazy!)

When the girlfriend heard the news she said, "Screw it, let's declare war on Mexico."

We kicked ass before in a war against Mexico. I guess the Mexicans are trying to get that territory back!

Former Chief Justice's Drug Dependence

Al Gore As You Have Never Seen Him Before

We all know how Al Gore is stuck with being known as having a lousy "stiff" personality.

However, lately it seems like he has been more comfortable in his own skin.

This video of Gore and his family will blow you away.

Anti-War Crowd Protests The Democrats

I am sure that many on the Left felt that if they elected a Democratic Congress the troops would be brought home very quickly from Iraq.

Now those on the Far Left are concerned that the Democrats aren't doing enough. And they are making their voices heard.

Glenn Reynolds is right on when he says:

"The antiwar crowd destroyed the Democrats once; they're set to do it again."

A Side Project

By the way I have started a little side project following the John Edwards campaign over at

This does not mean that I support John Edwards. I just find him a very interesting man to write about.

Of course I will be still blogging here but be sure to check the new blog for updates over there as well.

Edwards Feels Pretty

... oh so pretty! (I had to be honest and add this clip after I was praising the man a few posts ago).

Radical Muslims Online

Ah, so imagine this... you are a Radical Muslim. You have a snazzy new computer. You have a lot of time on your hands. And you hate the West.

What should you do?

Well create a message board of course! Check out what I found:
But perhaps a message board alone won't do. Oh no... you need a blog. Well here you go... a blog for all of your anti-American rage.

ACLU Defends Illegal Immigration

It is no wonder considering how poorly the Federal government has done in protecting against illegal immigrants that local governments feel a need to step up and protect their individual towns and counties against the threat.

Well, the ACLU doesn't like that at all.

I hope that the Texans don't back down at all.

Mass Killing In 2007?

Well, at least according to Pat Robertson. I don't know about that man speaking to God.

Seems kinda like something a Radical Muslim would say actually.

I condemn such predictions from Radical Muslims and Christians alike as those predictions lack hope for the future.

Predictions For The Future

With the change of the year from 2006 to 2007 I have read many predictions concerning the future. None as wacky as this particular article.

The article, by the way, was praised by the folks on DailyKos. No religion? That is great for the far lefties in the world I guess but I am sure many Americans would take offense at such a view.

Southern Growth

Score one for the South according to this article!

This is great news for conservatives if the past is any guide.

D.C. To Get A Vote In Congress?

The girlfriend will be very pleased to read this article. She is a D.C. resident and has been complaining that she does not get a say on the federal level.

It sounds like a good plan to me... and long overdue. Check out the website pushing for a change.

Edwards Shows Why He Is A Threat

I have always been impressed with John Edwards. I think that he is a great speaker. Very JFK like. Plus Edwards knows the power of the New Media. He even announced that he was running first by posting a video on YouTube.

I know what many of the readers are now thinking: "But AShiningCity, John Edwards is a dirty Trial Lawyer! Trial Lawyers are slime! We can't have him for president!" (This post here voices some of those concerns). As a legal guy I am not that concerned that the man was a trial lawyer.

Others believe that Edwards doesn't have a shot in the dark...they believe that the man has a losing message.

These people are wrong for doubting Edwards' ability to win elections. Bottom line? Hillary and Obama better watch out for an Edwards attack!

The Good Shepherd Is A GREAT Flick

Over the Holiday Break I was able to go see the Good Shepherd in theaters.

Now this sucker was 3 hours long but I loved every minute of it! (Most seemed to like the movie. Some didn't like the length). Some have even compared it to the Godfather movies for spy flicks. I don't disagree.

Though Good Shepherd was violent I am sure that it didn't hold a candle to this flick.

UPDATE: Some REALLY didn't like the flick!

What I Want For The New Year

Yes, I did have a wonderful Christmas but I do want a few more gifts.

Here are the issues that I want the President elected in 2008 to care about:

1.) The spread of Radical Islam:
Notice I did not say "terrorism." Radical Islam is the disease and terrorism is just a symptom of that particular disease. Check out what the Radicals are doing now in Europe. Within a generation Radical Islam could take over Europe... the United States can not stand by when this occurs. (Here is a great book that I am reading now on the topic and a review of the book)

2.) Decrease In Government And In Spending:
President Bush screwed the Republican party on this issue. Now candidates running for President don't seem to care that their plans offer just more spending... it has become the status quo. A fresh new voice on a traditional Republican idea is needed in this area.

3.) Conservative Judges:
With Justice Stevens most likely leaving in the next few years we need a president who understands the importance of the Supreme Court and acts to push conservative Pro-Life judges into any vacancies.

4.) Border Security:
Here is another area that President Bush failed the Republican Party and the nation as a whole. We need a president who recognizes that a strong border fence and defense is needed before we even start talking about what to do with all the illegals in this country.

5.) Better Relations With India:
For years the United States has been providing support for Pakistan...a decision that made more sense during the Cold War compared to now. Our next president must understand that India needs to be the United States' great ally in the 21st century. Here's why:
  • India Is A Diverse And Active Democracy
  • India Understands The Dangers Of Radical Islam
  • India Can Stand Up Against An Expanding Communist China
  • India Prides Itself On Educating Scientists And Engineers

Ha, so I ask for a lot...

The Execution

Saddam's life in pictures.

Thank Goodness the man is gone now.

UPDATE: A softer side of Saddam? Give me a break.

A Great Quote

"The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter."
---Winston Churchill

Judges Need More Money?

It looks like Chief Justice Roberts is asking for a wage increase for Federal judges.

I had no idea that judges weren't getting paid enough. I do know that judges need greater security...perhaps some of the wage increase can go towards that area.

UPDATE: Some disagree with the Chief Justice. As always Professor Bainbridge hits the nail on the head concerning the issue.

"Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction"--Ronald Reagan
