Clinton Supporter Stabs Obama Supporter

I knew that the race between Obama and Clinton was tight... but this story is just ridiculous.

On top of that... the Clinton supporter is a registered Republican. What's happening here that I'm missing?

Peggy Noonan On William Buckley

Buckley said in effect, Well, there's something known as American conservatism, though it does not even call itself that. It's been calling itself "voting Republican" or "not liking the New Deal." But it is a very American approach to life, and it has to do with knowing that the government is not your master, that America is good, that freedom is good and must be defended, and communism is very, very bad.

The 2008 American Auto Show

We get a lot of magazines at the apartment. We have magazine piles stacked up throughout (and I must say they are easy to trip into!).

Every once in a while something good is actually written in them.

I found this short article in Time magazine detailing the candidates as one of the most entertaining I have read in months.

Catholics And The GOP

This morning when I was looking around the Internets for some info concerning state attorneys general I stumbled across a fascinating part of the GOP.com website.

A GOP "Catholic Team"!

Doesn't that sound exciting? And I like how Catholics get a special team all to themselves--the Jews, Protestants, and Muslims get nothing. (HA HA HA)

Though I would imagine many would believe the GOP itself is a "Protestant Team."

At least the GOP is figuring out that there is going to be a huge increase in Catholics over the next 30 years in this country (thanks in part to their wussy policy on the border). The party is at least ATTEMPTING to market to Catholics.

Catholics, however, are such a mix bag of people and are very hard to target. Many various ethnic groups are Catholic. Many different economic groups are Catholic.

Let's see how well the GOP does in the upcoming election.

Obama: Better Than Civil Rights?

Anyone think that Barack Obama is getting a tad bit too much love? Perhaps?

A New French Leader?

Many of you out there are thinking: "AShiningCity, why the hell do you care about French politics? France is terrible! You know America rules!"

I care because the French (along with the rest of Europe) are being challenged by Radical Islam for control of their culture and country. The West is in trouble... and Europe is the front line.

I hope the French pick a strong leader to fight back. But I don't know if this man is the guy.

You gotta figure that the growth of Radical Islam has moved the Doomsday Clock forward by two minutes.

President Bush A Conservative?

According to this wackjob President Bush is a true conservative.

I am thinking that there should be a 3rd party come 2008. If the Republicans choose McCain there will be... I promise.

We all know how Al Gore is stuck with being known as having a lousy "stiff" personality.

However, lately it seems like he has been more comfortable in his own skin.

What I Want For The New Year

Yes, I did have a wonderful Christmas but I do want a few more gifts.

Here are the issues that I want the President elected in 2008 to care about:

1.) The spread of Radical Islam:
Notice I did not say "terrorism." Radical Islam is the disease and terrorism is just a symptom of that particular disease. Check out what the Radicals are doing now in Europe. Within a generation Radical Islam could take over Europe... the United States can not stand by when this occurs. (Here is a great book that I am reading now on the topic and a review of the book)

2.) Decrease In Government And In Spending:
President Bush screwed the Republican party on this issue. Now candidates running for President don't seem to care that their plans offer just more spending... it has become the status quo. A fresh new voice on a traditional Republican idea is needed in this area.

3.) Conservative Judges:
With Justice Stevens most likely leaving in the next few years we need a president who understands the importance of the Supreme Court and acts to push conservative Pro-Life judges into any vacancies.

4.) Border Security:
Here is another area that President Bush failed the Republican Party and the nation as a whole. We need a president who recognizes that a strong border fence and defense is needed before we even start talking about what to do with all the illegals in this country.

5.) Better Relations With India:
For years the United States has been providing support for Pakistan...a decision that made more sense during the Cold War compared to now. Our next president must understand that India needs to be the United States' great ally in the 21st century. Here's why:

• India Is A Diverse And Active Democracy
• India Understands The Dangers Of Radical Islam
• India Can Stand Up Against An Expanding Communist China
• India Prides Itself On Educating Scientists And Engineers

Ha, so I ask for a lot...

I don't know... Jimmy Carter was pretty damn bad. But according to Professor Bainbridge President Bush is edging towards that terrible title.

John McCain's War On Bloggers

Hey look, I am not a big fan of John McCain. But I know that he is in front when it comes to the GOP nod for '08 so I read stories about the man.

This report concerns McCain's bill that would punish bloggers for "illegal content." It will hurt everyone-liberals and conservatives alike. I encourage all those out there who love blogging to research the bill and notify others concerning it.

If this is what he does as senator then just think what he would do if he was president.

Congress Is Great At Naming Post Offices

Look, I will be the first to admit that I had a bias against the last Congress. I expected a lot more out the conservative Republicans. Actually the Republicans in Congress were just pathetic.

Now I learn that 1/4 of all bills passed were concerned with naming new buildings. That's just super swell.

President Bush Is A Lonely Man?

Well, at least according to this article President Bush is a very lonely man. President Bush's decisions have isolated him.

Now, I don't know if the President is feeling lonely now. Sometimes tough decisions might make a person feel alone.

That's when a man's inner strength has to come into play. Let's see if President Bush has any.

Well, it look likes Georgia's Cynthia McKinney had a last parting shot on President Bush.

I gotta say I am happy that Ms. McKinney is on her way out. She was an embarassment to the great state of Georgia.

Muslim Should Be Allowed To Take Oath On Anything He Wants

Hey, you know I am not a fan of Radical Islam. But this story concerning the Muslim congressman is not about Radical Islam. It is about freedom of choice when it comes to religion.

Some don't like the congressman swearing on a copy of the Koran. I don't care.

Today I had a conversation about this controversy with the roommate and the girlfriend. The roommate brought up an excellent point that John Adams, a very religious man, chose to be sworn in on a copy of the Constitution not the Bible. John Adams was a pretty patriotic guy!

I don't give a damn what this Muslim swears on (it could be even a piece of cheese for all I care) as long as his oath forces him to be a good congressman and to follow the Constitution.

Is Bush The Worst President Ever?

I think it is difficult to rate President Bush right now... give it a few years. In that time we can then see how his policies have changed the world. And we have had some terrible presidents in the past so the man certainly has a lot of competition.

Romney Should Talk About His Religion?

Well, at least according to the people over at Slate. That article says that Romney's Mormonism will be a liability for Romney like Catholicism was a liability for John F. Kennedy.

As an Irish Catholic from a family that loves the Kennedys the story caught my eye.

My goodness people it is 2006! I don't see how Mr. Romney being a Mormon would stop him from being a good president.

(Now other characteristics might stop him from being a good president... just not his faith!)

Senator Brownback And Sudan

Senator Brownback is putting his money where his mouth is... or rather taking his money away... when it comes to the horrible events in Sudan. The Senator is pulling money away from family investments that do business with the country of Sudan.

I like the approach. When the government doesn't respond publicly fight back privately.
