Is The Phrase "Tar Baby" A Racial Slur?

To be honest with you I didn't even know that the phrase "Tar Baby" even existed. But then again I am a pretty young guy.

Well, Mitt Romney got busted for using the phrase "Tar Baby" in Iowa to describe the "Big Dig" mess back in Boston.

Give me a break. It is obvious that Mr. Romney wasn't trying to say something racist.

I heard a commentator on TV last night say that calling someone a "racist" today is equivalent to calling someone a "communist" back during the 1950s. Seldom does the word actually apply to the person.

The word has lost its important meaning and that's a shame. There are a lot of racists out there...but not everyone is one.
