Pat Buchanan Is A Nazi?

Patrick Buchanan

Recently there has been a lot of negative talk about Patrick Buchanan's opinion concerning Israel's actions. Here is one example, and another, and one more example. (Here is an earlier post that has a link to one of Buchanan's columns).

Now, Mr. Buchanan believes that Israel has gone too far in its recent attacks. Furthermore, Mr. Buchanan believes that Israel is dictating American policy in the Middle East.

Mr. Buchanan has made a huge mistake... he has dared to think differently than Israel. God forbid.
Some people have called Mr. Buchanan a Nazi because of his comments. Others accuse Mr. Buchanan as being anti-Semitic because he dares to question Israel's policy.

This is absolutely insane.

First off, I would like to say that I am a big supporter of Israel. I think that Israel is a great ally of the United States and Israel is a wonderful example of what the Middle East could be in the future.

However, we don't have to base our entire Middle East policy upon Israel's decisions. I might agree with them 80% of the time but I refuse to be a sheep and follow their every action.

Israel is a nation state. Israel has an elected government and a sophisticated military. If Israel wishes to be a nation it can be criticized like any other nation.
Now, there are many instances in which Israel's and America's interests are the same. Supporting them in these instances is of course a smart move.
But it is okay to question Israel. Let's not be sheep and blindly follow Israel.
