The Hamas Covenant

Many of my friends say, in response to my support for Israel, "But AShiningCity, what about the poor people of Palestine? They have been abused. Truly you should feel for them!"

To answer that question, here is the Covenant of Islamic Resistance Movement (HAMAS). Created in 1988, the document describes the goals of Hamas for the Palestinian people.

Well, you don't have to go too far in the document to read the following:

Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it” (The Martyr, Imam Hassan alBanna, of blessed memory).

And let us remember that Hamas is not some outside group for the Palestinians. Hamas was ELECTED by the Palestinian people to the parliament back in January. The group has control of 76 of the 132 parliamentary seats which allows them to control the cabinet under the Palestinian Authority's president, Mahmoud Abbas, the leader of Fatah.

76 out of 132 seats? That sounds like some pretty broad support these Radical Muslims have with the common Palestinian people.

Could it be that the Palestinian people thus broadly support the destruction of Israel? Hmm... I wonder.
