Are Vouchers Bad For America?

How should we fix our schools in this country?

The People for the American Way believe vouchers are not the right move.

However, I don't understand why vouchers aren't given more of a chance in this country. We allow competition when it comes to college education and beyond. Because of that competition we have the greatest universities on the planet in this country.

But we don't want to try competition earlier during the K-12 years.

Why don't we want to give it a shot? Two words: Teacher Unions. These sorry sacks are more concerned with keeping control of their power than actually educating the kids.

Oh, I am sure that they mean well. But the Teacher Unions are in such a rut that they are immune to any fresh thoughts.

Now, my mother is a teacher and a lovely one at that. I think the teaching profession is a wonderful thing to do with your life. It is a shame that Unions have to go in and spoil it for the dedicated souls that want to make a difference.
